Application Requirements
Pre-screening requirement: By December 15th, all undergraduate and graduate cello applicants seeking a virtual audition must upload a preliminary video pre-screening recording. The pre-screening recording must include 2 movements of an unaccompanied work by Bach, one movement from a standard concerto, and one etude.
The following are for applicants invited to a virtual audition in February 2021:
Audition Repertoire Requirements:
- One movement of a standard concerto (preferably from memory)
- Sonata movement or other work of personal musical interest
- Two contrasting movements of a Bach suite (preferably from memory)
- Two contrasting etudes (e.g., Popper or Duport), one etude must be different than the etude presented for pre-screening

Course Requirements for Graduation
Minimum semester hours for this major: Double Bass 120.
- Satisfactory completion of two years of piano study or the PCL 104 examination.
- See Academic Policy Handbook for information concerning electives.
- All students in this curriculum will present a full senior recital, which will include performance of at least one work written within the last forty years.
- Registration for additional unit required. Students must earn a minimum of 120 units to receive a B.M. degree AND must carry a minimum of 12 units each semester.
- Any 3-unit music history or music theory course at or above the 200-level.
- Music History classes do not have to be taken together in chronological order. Students may begin to take MHS 120s starting their sophomore year. Students must complete MHS 121, 122 and 123 before enrolling in a 200 level MHS course.
- Students who place into TH 100/105 will start the Theory sequence in fall of their first year and are not required to take TH 230. Students who place into TH 110/115 begin the Theory sequence in the spring of their first year and will continue through TH 230.
