Cameron Oostdyk
Cameron Oostdyk is a sophomore Organ Performance major in the studio of Prof. Nathan Laube. Cameron began studying piano, but quickly fell in love with the organ after playing it for the first time. Cameron began playing for church services not long after, and became organist at the Canadian Reformed Church in Guelph, Ontario. Cameron is active as a performer and church musician in southern Ontario. Cameron takes a keen interest in improvisation, and enjoys studying with Prof. William Porter. Cameron has composed works for various ensembles, which have been performed by concert band and string orchestra. When he was 12, he composed a Fantasia on Psalm 107 which was debuted by string orchestra under the direction of Kent Dykstra. Cameron has participated in music festivals and RCM examinations, earning top marks, and was invited to perform at a Kiwanis highlights concert. Cameron’s previous teachers have included: Joe Carere, John Van Iperen, Martin Anderle, and Martin Jongsma. Outside of music, Cameron enjoys studying mathematics and computer science.
