PRESCREENING AND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate
2023 Rochester Audition Dates: Fridays February 3, 10, 17 and 24
There is no pre-screening recording required for undergraduate oboe. Applicants may choose to audition either on campus or via video upload, and the required repertoire is the same for both audition types.
Applicants who choose to audition by video recording should upload their audition video by February 1. If selected on the basis of their recordings, these applicants will subsequently be scheduled for an online evaluation of sight-reading and other skills with faculty.
Audition Repertoire Requirements
- Any concerto from the standard repertoire (such as Mozart, Marcello, Strauss, etc.) OR any sonata from the standard repertoire (such as Handel or Hindemith)
- A standard study, such as Barret or Ferling
- Orchestral excerpts as appropriate to training and experience

Graduate

If selected on the basis of their recordings, these applicants will subsequently be scheduled for an online evaluation of sight-reading and other skills with faculty.
MM Oboe audition requirements: Prepared repertoire should include studies (such as Singer, Ferling or Bozza), contemporary solo literature (such as Silvestrini, Morris, or Dorati) and orchestral excerpts. Possible sight-reading.
DMA: There will be no openings for DMA oboe for Fall 2023.
