DATES AND AUDITION OPTIONS
2026 Rochester Audition Dates: Fridays, January 30th, February 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th.
2026 Remote Audition Option: Applicants who choose to audition by video recording should upload their audition video by February 1st. If selected on the basis of their recordings, these applicants will subsequently be scheduled for an online evaluation of sight-reading and other skills with faculty.
PRESCREENING AND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate
BM Audition Repertoire Requirements:
There is no pre-screening recording required for BM Oboe. The required repertoire is the same for both audition types (On-Campus or Remote).
- Any concerto from the standard repertoire (such as Mozart, Marcello, Strauss, etc.) OR any sonata from the standard repertoire (such as Handel or Hindemith)
- A standard study, such as Barret or Ferling
- Orchestral excerpts as appropriate to training and experience
Graduate
Please Note: There are no openings for DMA Oboe for Fall 2026.
MM Audition Requirements:
There is no pre-screening required for MM Oboe. The required repertoire is the same for both audition types (On-Campus or Remote).
- Studies (such as Singer, Ferling or Bozza)
- Contemporary solo literature (such as Silvestrini, Morris, Berio, or Dorati)Â
- Orchestral excerpts
- Possible sight-reading
