STUDENT PROFILE
Cole Moorhead is a saxophonist hailing from Evanston, Illinois. Cole has a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance from the University of Iowa and has garnered awards for both his solo and chamber performances. As a member of the Nightshade Quartet, he was a winner of the NASA Region 3 Quartet Competition (2025), as well as being finalist in the Francis Walton Music Competition (2026), NASA Biennial Collegiate Quartet Competition (2026) and a semifinalist in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Cole was the winner of the Thursday Musical Young Artist Competition (2026), the MTNA Young Artist Illinois Competition (2026), and the MTNA Senior East Central Division Competition (2023). He has premiered works in France and the United States.
Starting a masterβs degree in 2026, Cole will continue his studies at the Eastman School of Music, where he has been awarded a teaching assistantship, under the tutelage of Professor Chien-Kwan Lin.
