STUDENT PROFILE
Muzi Li, from China, is currently studying at the Eastman School of Music under the guidance of International saxophonist Chien-Kwan Lin. Prior to this, he completed his middle school and undergraduate education at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM), where he trained under renowned mentors, including saxophonist Qun Gai and saxophonist Ye Wang.
During his time at CCOM, Muzi actively engaged in numerous artistic performances, showcasing his versatility and musicianship. Notable highlights include performing in the saxophone section ofΒ Turandot, conducted by President Feng Yu at the 2018 “Belt and Road” event; participating in the 5.23 Yanβan Art Festival (2019) with the CCOM Affiliated Middle Schoolβs Gifted Youth Group; and appearing in multiple Orchestra Department Art Practice Weeks and Graduation Season Outstanding Graduates Marathon Concerts (2021β2025).
On the international stage, Muzi has achieved remarkable milestones. In 2019, the saxophone quartetΒ “Golden Melody” winΒ First Prize in the Wind Instrument Group at the 46th Fischoff International Chamber Music Competitionβthe first Chinese ensemble ever to receive this honor. This victory not only demonstrated their exceptional artistry but also brought global recognition to Chinese chamber music. Following this achievement, the quartet was invited to perform at the competitionβs award ceremony, and the same year, Muzi participated in a saxophone chamber music concert at Eastman, where he now continues his musical journey. In 2025, he qualified for the Andorra International Saxophone Competition.
Beyond formal performances, Muzi has enriched his artistic experience through diverse engagements, including performances at National Day celebrations for the Italian and German embassies, a 2023 teacher-student concert with Professor Ye Wang, and a 2024 solo recital at the Dalian Grand Theater. He is currently preparing for a solo concert at theΒ 2025 Harbin World Saxophone Congress, further enrich his experience in saxophone performance.
