Jiae Kwak
CURRENT STUDENT PROFILE
Since the age of nine, Jiae Kwak has played the organ. In her teenage years, she received numerous organ and piano awards. She was featured on many radio shows, television programs, and interviews following her victory in one of the largest Bach competitions in South Korea. Korean National University of Arts, the top music school in Korea, accepted her into the Bachelor’s program. Additionally, she has been awarded a full scholarship.
She performed organ with the Korean Symphony Orchestra in college at the G-20 Summit celebration concert at Sejong Art Center. She represented her college at the Torch Missionary Center’s graduation concert. It is considered the most prestigious debut stage for talented musicians in Korea.
As well as performing in Paris, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, and Korea, she has also taken master classes in various countries.
Jiae is currently enrolled at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. She studies with Nathan Laube, a leading organist in the world. In the years 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, she was awarded the Salisbury Scholarship twice. Additionally, she has been invited to participate in several major competitions. Among these are Silberman, Musashino, Saint Maurice, and Buxtehude.
She volunteered at the Happy House of the Catholic Church in South Korea for two years, singing hymns to comfort patients. Her current position is that of organist at Rochester Christian Reformed Church.
