STUDENT PROFILE
Xi Huang was born in China and began studying piano when she was three. She is currently pursuing her DMA degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music, where she studies with Dr. Andrew Harley and holds the Brook Smith Scholarship and a Graduate Assistantship in Studio Accompanying. She also holds her master’s degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music from Eastman. In addition to her piano studies, she received her Bachelor of Financial Management from Zhejiang University and was also an exchange student at the University of Cambridge in England.
As a recipient of the Changjiang Piano Scholarship, Xi participated in many solo recitals and competitions. She has worked as a collaborative pianist and participated in numerous concerts, tours, competitions, and recordings. In 2018, she won 1st place in the National College Students Cultural Competition as the collaborative pianist for the ZJU Wenqin chorus. In 2019, she was invited to attend the Jinan International Choral Festival. In 2021, she won first place in the Jiangsu Division of Hummingbird Music Awards, which is a competition for chamber musicians. In 2022, she attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival collaborative piano program. In July of 2023, she was one of the two piano fellows selected to participate in the Toronto Summer Music Festival Chamber Music Institute.
