2026 Rochester Audition Dates: Fridays, February 6th, February 20th, and February 27th.
2026 Remote Audition Dates: Applicants who would like to audition virtually should upload their pre-screening requirements within their application by December 1st. If approved, finalists will perform their final audition over Zoom on one of the three above dates.Â
PRE-SCREENING AND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate
BM Pre-screening Requirements: All BM Euphonium applicants must upload a pre-screening video containing the following material within their application by December 1st:
- Rochut, Melodious Etudes Book I – Etude No. 23
- Tyrrell, 40 Progressive Studies – Etude No. 10
- A three-minute excerpt from any solo work (piano optional)
BM Final Audition Requirements:Â
- One complete lyrical etude from Bordogni/Rochut Melodious Etudes Book 1 (nos. 1- 30)
- One complete technical etude from Tyrrell 40 Progressive Studies
- One solo work from the following list (or of similar difficulty). Applicants are welcome to present repertoire by composers who have been traditionally underrepresented by virtue of their gender, race, ethnicity, or cultural heritage.
- Barat, Andante et Allegro
- Bellstedt, Napoli
- Capuzzi, Andante and Rondo
- Guilmant, Morceau Symphonique
- Horovitz, Concerto for Euphonium
- Jacob, Fantasia
- Two standard band excerpts from the following list:
- Fillmore, Rolling Thunder
- Grainger, “The Brisk Young Sailor” from Lincolnshire Posy
- Holst, “Chaconne” from First Suite for Military Band
- Holst, “March” from Second Suite for Military Band
- Sousa, Stars and Stripes Forever

Graduate
Please Note: There will be no openings for DMA Euphonium for Fall 2026.
MM Pre-screening Requirements: All MM Euphonium applicants must upload a pre-screening video containing the following material within their application by December 1st:
- Rochu, Melodious Etudes, Book 2 – Etude No. 67
- Mead, New Concert Studies, Volume 1 – Mashima “A Spring Morning”
- A solo work of applicant’s choice (piano accompaniment required)
- Two contrasting band or orchestral excerpts from the standard repertoire
DMA Pre-screening Requirements: All DMA Euphonium applicants must upload a pre-screening video containing the following material within their application by December 1st:
- Rochut Melodious Etudes Book 2 – Etude No. 68
- Mead New Concert Studies, Volume 1 – Curnow “Steeplechase”
- A solo work of applicant’s choice (piano accompaniment required)
- Two contrasting band or orchestral excerpts from the standard repertoire
MM and DMA Final Audition Requirements:
- One etude from Mead New Concert Studies, Volume 1: Court “Reflections” or Curnow “Flying High”
- One Baroque, Classical, or Romantic transcription
- One solo work from the following list (or of similar difficulty). Applicants are welcome to present repertoire by composers who have been traditionally underrepresented by virtue of their gender, race, ethnicity, or cultural heritage.
