The Eastman School of Music Welcome Center is located in the center of Lowry Hall in the main building of ESM. The Welcome Center provides many different services for Faculty, Staff and Students. The Welcome Center answers the main phone line for the Eastman School of Music. While we are not able to take messages for faculty and staff, we are happy to transfer callers to direct lines and departments. Directories and course schedules are kept in the office and we can direct walk up visitors and students to different locations. The Eastman Campus is a difficult one to navigate, so please don’t hesitate to drop by for directions.
The Welcome Center handles all transactions regarding Faculty and Staff parking in the East End Garage (EEG), see link below. Other parking options are available for students from the EEG or Gibbs Street Lot. Please note that to enroll in payroll deductions for EEG parking, all forms must be turned in to the Welcome Center before the first of the month of the desired activation date.
Lockers at the Eastman School of Music are available for academic use to full-time, enrolled/registered Eastman collegiate students. To apply for a locker, fill out the form below and return it to the Welcome Center Coordinator via e-mail or hard copy (email@example.com).
The Cashier, located in Messinger Hall, Suite 250, can accept payments for instrument rentals, student recital and concert programs, lunch tickets, Dean’s Loan repayments and parking (see below). Purchases from the departments of Media Production, Instrument Office, and Ensemble Library are also handled by the Cashier.
Paychecks for students, faculty and staff are available at the Welcome Center on paydays after 12:00pm. Valid photo ID is required for pick-up. Everyone is encouraged to sign-up for direct deposit for expedited payments. To sign-up, or to print direct deposit pay stubs, go to HRMS > Main Menu > Self-Service > Payroll & Compensation > Direct Deposit or phone 585-275-URHR (8747). Incoming: All mail addressed to Eastman School of Music, 26 Gibbs Street, Rochester, NY 14604 is delivered to the Welcome Center which acts as the School’s mail room. ESM faculty and staff mailboxes are maintained here, while student mailboxes for those living on campus are housed in Eastman Commons. Unfortunately, the Welcome Center cannot support personal student mail and all student mail for those living on campus should be addressed to the Eastman Commons: 100 Gibbs Street, Rochester, NY 14605.
Outgoing: U.S. mail (with postage or department postage slips attached) may be deposited in the mail drop located adjacent to the faculty mailboxes and will be sent to the UR River Campus Mail room. In order to expedite your U.S. mail delivery, please deposit U.S. mail (with proper postage) in the brass mailbox located on the wall opposite the faculty mailboxes. The post office empties the brass mailbox, for outgoing mail, once daily (Monday-Friday) no earlier than 4 P.M. Postage stamps can be purchased at the ESM Bookstore in the Miller Center.
Internal: ESM and UR interoffice mail may be deposited in the ESM mail drop as well. Interoffice mail is delivered and picked up daily at approximately 10:30 A.M.
Personal items and hazardous items may not be delivered or requested for pick-up at the Eastman Welcome Center. This includes chemicals, alcohol and any other item that is either considered hazardous OR is for personal, non-work-related use.
- Chemical deliveries should be handled & received only by the facilities department
- Alcohol may not be delivered to the Welcome Center. The workers at the Welcome Center have been instructed to refuse to sign for items of this nature.
- Employees & students should make arrangements to receive and sign for and receive all personal deliveries at another location.
**Student assignments (examinations, term papers and homework) should be delivered directly to the professor as these items cannot be accepted at the Information Window.
