Congratulations to Anthony LaLena ’19E (DMA), ’25E (PhD) for accepting a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Musicology at SUNY Geneseo, teaching courses on western classical music, jazz, and American popular music from the 1960s to present. He is also co-directing the continuo ensemble at Geneseo, a group that performs early music while exploring contemporary improvisation-based compositions. During his time at Eastman, Anthony studied with Professor Nicholas Goluses and Professor Paul O’Dette, earning a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in classical performance with a minor in Early Music Performance Practice, before completing his PhD in historical musicology. Anthony is currently finishing a recording project of new solo guitar music by Gulli Björnsson and Mark Delpriora with a second recording project underway.Â
