Gateways Music Festival | Family Concert: Ric’key Pageot
About This Event
Bring the whole family for an energetic concert with pianist Ric’key Pageot, where audiences of all ages are invited not only to listen, but also to respond, create, and make music alongside him. Through live performance, guided listening, and musical storytelling, Pageot transforms the concert hall into a joyful space for discovery.
Through this engaging approach, Pageot introduces families to music by groundbreaking Black composers including the Chevalier de Saint-Georges (Joseph Bologne), Florence Price, William Grant Still, Howard Swanson, Estelle D. Ricketts, Robert Nathaniel Dett, and more. By bringing their music and stories to life, he reveals generations of Black classical artistry while helping children hear how melody, rhythm, history, and imagination come together.
A classically trained pianist from a musical Haitian family, Pageot began his musical development in Montreal and performed with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra while still a student. He later became the youngest music director hired by Cirque du Soleil and has toured with Madonna, Diana Ross, Cher, and Dr. John, while writing and recording with Earth, Wind & Fire and Jill Scott.
Bring the children you love for an afternoon of music, participation, and inspiration—and the chance to discover what becomes possible when their own ideas enter the room.
All ages welcome.
