Ulrika Davidsson, organ
Hans Davidsson is Artistic Director of the Göteborg International Organ Academy and Music Director at the church of Älvsborg in Göteborg. He served as professor of organ at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen 2012-2018. 1987–2005, he served as professor of organ at the School of Music at Göteborg University, 1994-2009 as the Artistic Director of the Göteborg International Organ Academy (GIOA), and he was the founder of Göteborg Organ Art Center (GOArt). 2006-2014, he served as professor of organ at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen in Germany where he continues as the director of the Arp Schnitger Institute of Organ and Organ Building. 2001-2012, he had the privilege to serve as professor of organ at the Eastman School of Music and project director of the Eastman-Rochester Organ Initiative (EROI) in Rochester, NY, USA. He performs and teaches at major festivals and academies throughout the world. He has made many recordings, including the complete works of Matthias Weckmann, Dietrich Buxtehude, Georg Böhm and most recently the organ sonatas by Felix Mendelssohn- Bartholdy on the Loft label.
Ulrika Davidsson is a versatile Swedish keyboard artist whose expertise spans fortepiano, clavichord, harpsichord, and piano. She was recently appointed Senior Lecturer in Classical Music and Church Music at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music, a Master’s degree in Piano from the University of Gothenburg, and the Organist and Cantor Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Her international performance career has taken her across Europe, the USA, and Asia.
Eastman’s Italian Baroque Organ was built around 1770 in central Italy. Restored and installed in 2005 at the Memorial Art Gallery, the instrument is the only one of its kind in North America. The organ’s beautiful, authentic sounds have been heard by thousands of visitors who attend weekly Sunday mini-recitals and special “Third Thursday” concerts by internationally celebrated guest artists and Eastman musicians.

On the third Thursday of each month, from September through May, the Eastman School of Music and the Memorial Art Gallery present varied concert programs by faculty and guest artists featuring Eastman’s Italian Baroque Organ. These Third Thursday Concerts are free with Gallery admission after 5pm and are made possible by the Rippey Endowed Trust. Admission is free for University of Rochester ID holders. All concerts begin at 7:00pm. Please arrive early as seating is limited and available on a first-come basis.
