Vlog #14 The Cambodian Association of Illinois

http://youtu.be/KfBgNDRADek

Here is me at the Cambodian Association of Illinois and Cambodian Memorial Museum where they have all sorts of programs including a Sunday morning Cambodian Music jam, and Cambodian language classes. I couldn’t show you the whole museum because I couldn’t figure out how to get the lights on, but you should check it out if you can. It’s a very touching place.

Next week, I’m really excited to start taking the Alexander Technique, a practice that helps with awareness of the body to use it more efficiently and with ease. I’m hoping it can give my singing a boost, so to document my progress, here is a Kmang Kmang where I’m singing – pre-Alexander technique – ENJOY! (don’t know why it’s changing colors like that..)

Hey Everyone, sorry it’s been awhile. Here is a look at Kmang Kmang’s new website. It’s pretty cool. There are a few kinks that we’re working out, but we’re pretty proud of it overall. Check it out, and sign our mailing list to get access to the Fan’s section where you’ll get free downloads, videos, and other stuff.

Here is a little bit of a new piece that I’m writing for Brass Quintet. It will be premiered on March 31st by Gaudete Brass Quintet at Kmang Kmang’s CD release party in Chicago at the Painted Door – 1505 W Chicago Ave.

It’s gonna be EPIC!!

The video cuts out at the end, but you get the idea. Also let me know what you think, still don’t have a title for it yet!

As 2011 is winding up, I’ve made a reel to reflect on the things that Kmang Kmang has been up to. It’s been a pretty amazing year! Many of you have been with us through so much – the release of our first album, amazing collaborations, many Digital Kmactus art shows, the start of our first music video, and of course, you’ve been there for our Kmang Kmang sets in music venues all around Chicago. Now, WE HAVE A NEW WEBSITE!! We will be updating it often including an exclusive fans section in which only mailing list members will have access to. So get on that!

Other than that, thanks for watching! see you next year!

VLOG#9_Little Kisses

This is a piece that I wrote for Katrina Mena and Keith Rick. Katrina is the singer of my old band Beijinhos (“Little Kisses” in Portuguese), and they recently married. I wrote this song for them and played it at their wedding, but I think it could be developed more, perhaps with the band. Enjoy!

Here is a video with my friend Desiree Kameka who is talking to you about the physical, psychological, and unconscious effects of music (while listening to some Kmang Kmang in the background 🙂 Her work and studies focus on the support of children with disabilities, particularly those with autism.

Vlog #6 Clips of Baroque Rock

http://youtu.be/OFr629A_Ncc

This is a video of some clips of what I wrote for the Baroque Rock show with Bach and Beethoven Ensemble, Gaudete Brass Quintet, Kmang Kmang, and Avanti Guitar Trio. I split in clips of everything over the audio of what I wrote for Kmang Kmang and BBE. There’s also a short introduction about my band!
