Vlog 10 – More Flexibilty

Expectations

For this VLOG I discuss expectations – my own expectations, those of my students, their parents, and administration at the University level.

Jade set to inspire, inform and entertain in Orlando!

Student Support as a Professor

In this VLOG I discuss how important it is to support your students outside of the classroom or rehearsal space in which you usually see them.

47 Strings, interactive and educational harp recitals in the community

It’s the halfway point for 47 Strings! Learn how Meghan has been bringing harp music to homeless shelters after receiving the Richter Fund for Music Outreach from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.

47 Strings is a unique and unprecedented harp concert series. For each of the 47 strings, Houston harpist Meghan Caulkett will be performing one interactive outreach program. So far, over 22 performances have taken place for the elderly and homeless, and for preschool, elementary, and special needs children. Over 1,600 children have been exposed to solo and chamber harp music from Ginastera, Bartok, Tournier, Salzedo, Ravel and Debussy. The main goal of 47 Strings is to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for classical music, by providing concerts to audiences who are not often exposed to it.

CBDNA National Conference Wrap-Up!

I recently attended the National CBDNA conference in Greensboro, NC and share on my VLOG my experiences and the different types of music I heard.

April is Tell Your Story Month!

Not just Pachelbel: Wedding Ceremony Music

Spring is the start of wedding season, which creates lots of gigs for harpists and other classical musicians. In this vlog, Meghan discusses some traditional music selections, as well as shares some of her pop music arrangements.

Pre- Opera Vlog!

A quick VLOG before I head out for the Atlanta Opera’s La Traviata.

The week of traveling that made my friends think I’m nuts. Freelancing in LA, TX, and MA

Think you’re busy with gigs? Meghan can relate. In this vlog she talks about having rehearsals in Baton Rouge, and auditions in Boston and Houston. All within the same week. Orchestral playing is amazing, but logistics can be exhausting.

Vlog 10 – More Flexibilty

I have always thought of my career as fairly concise, with most of my activities funneled through my work with So Percussion.  But I am realizing more and more, that all careers in music these days require a flexibility to do many things well and piece together lots of interesting activities to make up the whole.
