Sophie Gledhill

British cellist Sophie Gledhill is currently completing her master's degree in performance at Eastman School of Music, where she studies with Steven Doane. She graduated with a degree in music from the University of Cambridge, where she was principal cellist and President of Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra. In 2008 Sophie made her London concerto debut, performing the Lalo cello concerto at St John's, Smith Square. She now enjoys a varied freelance performing career in the UK and further afield, most recently appearing with the BBC Symphony Orchestra on television and radio at the First Night of the Proms and on a recording of Lutoslawski orchestral works for Chandos Records. Sophie would love to combine a performing career with writing, photography and travel.
