Voice and Opera at Eastman
Sample Lessons for Prospective Students
— Up until December 1, high school seniors and incoming graduate candidates may schedule one voice lesson with one or more voice faculty members. Lessons scheduled before December 1st are subject to fees charged by individual faculty members. Additionally, the Eastman voice faculty each offer one 30-minute sample lesson free of charge to students participating in on-campus auditions (lessons must be after the audition proper) and to those singers who, once admitted to an Eastman degree program (undergraduate or graduate), return to campus for sample lesson(s) up until May 1st. Lessons that extend beyond the 30- minute sample lesson are subject to a $25.00 per half hour fee. The voice faculty encourages scheduling no more than three lessons per day.
Please contact faculty members directly via email to inquire about scheduling a sample lesson. Prospective students may also contact faculty members about auditing lessons to observe their work with a current Eastman student. Voice Faculty biographies and email links can be found at: https://www.esm.rochester.edu/voice/faculty/
To better understand the richness of life at Eastman, candidates are encouraged to take school tours (scheduled by the Admissions Office), attend recitals or opera performances and to visit classes or rehearsals. Auditing lessons can be as valuable as taking a private lesson. Prospective students are encouraged to do both. Attendance at opera rehearsals is only permissible with opera faculty approval. A list of class times are available from our representative in Admissions (Christina Crispin).
