[vc_row][vc_column width=”3\/4″][vc_column_text]The Student Living Center was built in 1991, and provides housing for 350 students of the Eastman School of Music. The building consists of the fifteen-story Cominsky Tower and a four-story quadrangle surrounding a landscaped inner courtyard. Eastman first-years, sophomores, and juniors are required to live in the Student Living Center. In addition to the fact that a majority of Eastman students live on-campus, the Student Living Center\u2019s proximity to practice rooms, rehearsal spaces, restaurants, and museums makes it a wonderful place to live! SLC Offices<\/h2><\/div><\/div>[vc_accordion active_tab=”false” collapsible=”yes” title_size=”h3″ style=”3″][vc_accordion_tab title=”Student Living Center Front Desk”][vc_column_text]The Student Living Center (SLC)\u00a0Front Desk is located at the main entrance of the Student Living Center. When entering the building, all students, faculty, and staff must show their IDs to Office Assistants working at the SLC Front Desk. Visitors are required to sign in at this location. The SLC Front Desk also lends supplies to residents such as games, movies, and cleaning supplies. \nThe Dining Center is located on the first floor of the Student Living Center where Eastman students can utilize their meal plans. More information regarding Dining Services, including information about hours and meal plans, can be found here<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Public Safety”][vc_column_text]Safety and security is taken very seriously in the Student Living Center. All visitors must sign in at the Office for Residential Life and stay with a current resident who presents a UR ID card. Public Safety officers are available on-campus all day, and have offices in the main academic building, as well as the Student Living Center. For an emergency, Public Safety can be reached by picking up a blue light phone or calling (585) 275-3333. \nCiminelli Lounge, located on the first floor of the Student Living Center, is a space for recitals, recordings, auditions, and masterclasses. Any student, faculty, or staff member wanting to reserve this space must place a reservation through the Concert Office. \nThe Alumni Courtyard provides a beautiful outdoor enclosed space for residents to hangout and relax.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Basic Needs Hub”][vc_column_text]The connection of campus and community resources to students. The Student Support Basic Needs Hub was created to facilitate the connection of campus and community resources for students who are experiencing a time of critical need. The hub provides urgent, essential student necessities, such as food, clothing, housing, and access to academic tools. Assistance provided through the hub is not intended to replace or supplement current student financial aid and it does not need to be repaid. Basic Needs Hub Request Form<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Food Pantry”][vc_column_text css=””]The Eastman Food Pantry is stocked with a limited selection of staple food products, and participants will receive a grocery bag of 7-10 items that they can pick up at the SLC front desk.\u00a0 Requests can be submitted via our Eastman Pantry Preference Form<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While the ESM Food Pantry is need-blind and does not require income or financial aid information to be produced, in order to be able to make our supplies last and meet the current high demand, we ask that you consider whether the Food Pantry is right for you. The ESM Food Pantry should be used by any graduate students who are food insecure or may be facing a change in employment status.<\/p>\n

\nThe Game Room is located in the basement of the Student Living Center. Equipment available to residents includes pool, ping pong, air hockey, foosball, and poker tables. The key to this room can be signed out through the SLC Front Desk.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Kitchen”][vc_column_text]In addition to the microwaves that can be found in most floor lounges, there is also a full kitchen provided to all residents in the basement of the SLC. The kitchen is open daily from 7:00am \u2013 11:00pm.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Laundry Room”][vc_column_text]The Laundry Room is located in the basement of the Student Living Center. This facility is available to Student Living Center residents only. Washers and dryers are free. Residents are responsible for providing their own detergent.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Media Lab”][vc_column_text css=””]A computer lab, accessible exclusively to Eastman students, is located on the first floor of the Student Living Center. The computer lab provides first-rate equipment, and is open daily during the academic year. All residents are provided with a mailbox in the Mail Room located on the first floor of the Student Living Center.<\/p>\n

Packages are held in the Package Room, which is located on the first floor of the Student Living Center and is open Monday-Saturday. Student Room Information<\/h2><\/div><\/div>[vc_accordion active_tab=”false” collapsible=”yes” title_size=”h3″ style=”3″][vc_accordion_tab title=”Housing Placement”][vc_column_text css=””]The Student Living Center is comprised primarily of single and double rooms, with a few triple rooms. First-years are assigned to double or triple rooms with roommates. Sophomore and junior students are housed in single rooms, and select those rooms during the Room Selection Process hosted by the Office for Residential Life every spring. Seniors who choose to live on-campus are also housed in single rooms.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Residential Areas”][vc_column_text css=””]Student rooms are located on floors two through fourteen of the tower, and floors two through four of the quadrangle. Each area provides residents with a furnished lounge that includes couches, tables, a microwave, and television, as well as separate male and female bathrooms. All student rooms in the Student Living Center are tiled, with carpeting in shared common areas (lounges and hallways).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Special Interest Housing”][vc_column_text]There are several communities within the Student Living Center known as Special Interest Housing that our students choose to form, join, and live within. Special interest housing consists of floors that have developed out of common interests in the student body. These floors perform services to the campus community and the Eastman community at large to promote their interests. There are no additional costs to living on a Special Interest housing floor. However, additional costs associated with differing groups may be dependent on the structure of the individual groups. Currently no groups have any due system or structure factored into their membership. Attending an event and being involved are the best ways to get the answers you\u2019re looking for. Make sure to ask.<\/p>\n

Cinemaniacs<\/strong>
\n\u201cThe goal for the Cinemaniacs Interest Floor is to build a unifying community through the common interest of film and music. Students will have a chance to decompress, thoroughly discuss film music, and enjoy movies through social events.\u201d<\/p>\n

Entertainment Floor<\/strong>
\n\u201cOur floor aims to bring the Eastman community together through games and movies. Many students already enjoy these activities, and we seek to include others while building a community around this shared interest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Music of the World<\/strong>
\n\u201cOur Floor is dedicated to experiencing all music around the world. For many conservatory students, non-western music is rarely preformed or listened to. We look to promote music from Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe so the students of Eastman can learn more about these cultures and incorporate it into their own musical education.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cOur organization values contributing to individual and group success in music, through listening to and offering constructive criticism, sharing ideas and inspirations, as well as improvising in various styles.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wellness<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Wellness Floor is committed to improving the mental and physical wellness of the students of Eastman. Through mindful activities, healthy living, and social gatherings, the Wellness Floor plans to enrich the mind, body, and soul for all who wish to dwell amongst the wellness goers. We hope that Eastman students will have a more successful education and enhanced experience from being a part of and interacting with the Wellness Floor\u201d<\/p>\n
