Student Living Center

The Student Living Center, the one residence hall at the Eastman School of Music, is conveniently located across the street from the school. Eastman first-years, sophomores, and juniors are required to live on-campus in the Student Living Center. New residents will receive a letter about their housing assignment by the beginning of August. With that letter, residents will also receive contact information for their roommate, a brochure about living with a roommate, a list of items to bring (and not to bring), information about their mailbox, and a list of important Residential Life dates for the 2018-2019 academic year. Please make sure to review the New Student Information page on the Office of Residential Life website (

All other new students may begin moving into the Student Living Center on Wednesday, August 22. Students living on-campus must arrive during the scheduled times listed below:

A – F 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
G – M 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
N – Z 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

The Student Living Center is located at 100 Gibbs Street, Rochester, NY 14605. You will pull up perpendicular to the curb to begin unloading. Eastman Orientation Crew members will be available to assist with unloading and getting belongings to your room. You will have approximately 15 minutes to move all of your belongings into your room. Cars MUST relocate and park in one of two locations for the remainder of the day. Please be mindful and help us keep the day moving efficiently.

Because we are an urban campus in downtown Rochester, parking is controlled by the city. There are two parking options:

Gibbs Street Lot: This is the open lot directly across from the Student Living Center. This lot will have an attendant and costs $5 to park for the day.

East End Parking Garage: This is on East Main Street, immediately around the corner from the Student Living Center at 475 East Main Street. This garage costs $2 the first hour, then $2 every hour after 2 hours, with a daily maximum of $8.

As soon as you have unloaded your vehicle and relocated it to one of the two parking lots, return to the Student Living Center and get your ESM Student ID and Orientation Folder in Ciminelli Lounge. Please make sure to bring photo ID for proof of identity to receive your ESM Student ID.

For information about parking during the academic year, please visit and look under ESM Student, TAR & Strong Staffing Parking.

Off-Campus Students

We strongly encourage that you arrive in the morning. All students need to check in and receive their IDs on Wednesday, August 22 before 2:00 p.m.  If you live off-campus, you may arrive as early as 8:00 a.m. to check in and get your ID. Please do NOT park in front of the Student Living Center since this space is reserved for students unloading their cars to move into the Student Living Center.
