Important information about room scheduling in January

January 10, 2022

Dear students,

Below is some important information for the small number of students who are currently in Rochester and are looking to reserve space in our facilities for applied lessons or self-recordings, as well as for students looking for reserve space once we return to in-person instruction.

The Concert Office will continue to allow the booking of performances halls until January 31 for self-recording or live-streamed auditions.   Previously, students were allowed to book one, two-hour block every two weeks, but as of today we will allow students to book only one, two- hour block between now and January 31 (subject to availability).   Once performance halls fill up, we will manage overflow in MC 5.

For those students who need to book a space for a livestreamed-audition in February or March, we can book those in MC 5 from today through Spring Break.   Note that MC 5 is not available after 5pm or on weekends.  If, at the time of the live audition, a performance hall is open, the student may ask to be moved into that space.

Non-degree recitals are normally only be booked up to four weeks in advance, but we will not be accepting any bookings of this type until we return to in-person instruction.

For the small number of students currently in Rochester who need to book a room with good WiFi for their online applied lessons in January, they should first contact the Registrar’s office (registrar@esm.rochester.edu) to make a reservation for the month of January in a classroom or other open space.  Additionally, piano students may contact Vicky Hoover (vhoover@esm.rochester.edu)  to book space in MC 3, which will be prioritize for online piano lessons in the month of January.

Thanks again to everyone for your continued flexibility as we adjust to the recent change to online learning.  I hope you’re all staying safe, and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Best,

Dr. Hain
