COVID masking update

June 17, 2022

Dear students and families,

Although there are only few more days left in this semester please read the following message as it is effective immediately, and will most likely be in place during the summer months.

Effective today, the University will use three COVID-19 tiers—low, medium, and high—to both determine and communicate the face mask requirements on campus each week. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors—anyone who plans to be inside a campus building or facility—will be able to check what the status is and know whether face masks are required indoors (high), strongly encouraged (medium), or optional (low). The system directly correlates with the CDC’s COVID-19 community levels for Monroe County and provides a consistent framework upon which to base University masking guidance moving forward. Read the full guidance here.

The current University COVID-19 tier level is MEDIUM. Face masks are strongly encouraged for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors indoors.

The current University COVID-19 Tier will be posted on the COVID Resource Center Face Mask page, on the COVID-19 Resource Center site, and will be posted daily in @Rochester. If there is a change in the University COVID-19 Level, it will be clearly communicated in @Rochester and will go into effect starting at 8:30 a.m. that morning, and will stay in place until further notice.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kodzas
