In the summer of 2019, Eastman’s Summer Organ Academy is open to undergraduate students as well as pre-college students. This is a new feature of the program and we are excited to welcome a wide range of experience and repertoire from participants! Each day will include private and group instruction from world-renowned performers and pedagogues, as well as daily access to a great variety of instruments. Participants will have the opportunity to perform in master classes focusing on repertoire, sacred music skills, improvisation, and technique. Undergraduates and pre-college students will have some combined and some separate activities to provide the a more individualized program of study. Doctoral students will serve as teaching assistants during practice sessions and classes.

Use this time to meet friends and colleagues that share in your passion, and see just how much there is to discover and learn within the organ community here in downtown Rochester. This is a great opportunity for undergraduates considering Eastman for graduate school, but it is also a chance to simply experience the rich organ culture that exists here. The program includes social activities and excursions and final student performances, which are open to the public.

Faculty to include: David Higgs, Nathan Laube, William Porter, Stephen Kennedy

Locations: ESM Schmitt Organ Recital Hall, Asbury First United Methodist Church, Christ Church, Incarnate Word Lutheran Church, Memorial Art Gallery, Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Luke and St. Simon Cyrene Church, St. Paul’s Church, Third Presbyterian Church

Each organ listed above has a link to a detailed description on the Instruments Page.
