Performance Ensembles & Organizations
Here is a list of the performance organizations, ensembles and functions that are primarily devoted to new music performance:
Conducted and directed by Brad Lubman.
A student-run new music performance group.
A student-run organization devoted to performance chamber orchestra pieces by composition graduate composers.
Eight concerts a year of music by composition students.
Eastman Wind Ensemble
Conducted and directed by Mark Scatterday.
Eastman Repertory Singers
Conducted by William Weinert.
Directed by Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez and Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon. An organization that presents concerts of new music by Eastman and other composers music outside of Eastman at international music conferences and other venues.
Eastman Percussion Ensemble
Directed by Michael Burritt.
Eastman Computer Music Center
(ECMC) Directed by Allan Schindler. Presents concerts of electroacoustic and computer music at and outside the Eastman School.
Image, Movement, Sound
(IMS) a collective of composers, visual artists, film and video makers and dancers at Eastman, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and CUNY Brockport that offers courses concert performances in Greater Rochester.
Student and faculty, solo, and ensemble concerts
Readings of student works are held annually by the Eastman Repertory Singers, the Eastman Wind Ensemble, and the Philharmonia or Eastman Symphony orchestras. Each year an orchestral work by a student composer performed as part of a Philharmonia concert.
