S Joshua Sheppard

S Joshua Sheppard (born September 21, 1997) is an American operatic baritone. S Joshua received his Bachelor’s degree in voice performance from Vanderbilt University where he studied voice with Amy K Jarman. S Joshua currently lives in Rochester, NY where he is pursuing his Masters of Music and studying voice with world renowned tenor, Anthony Dean Griffey.

S Joshua has been privileged to interpret a number of operatic roles such as Giove in Cavalli’s La Calisto, The Sodbuster in Missy Mazolli’s Proving Up, Mr. Greatorex/Gissing/Etcher/Off-Gerad in Kevin Putt’s Elizabeth Cree, Edmund in Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park, Figaro in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Dr. Sciarrone in Puccini’s Tosca, and Bartolo in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. S Joshua has also performed in a number of musical theater and operetta roles including as the Narrator/Mysterious Man in Sondheim’s Into the Woods, Dr. Pangloss/Cacambo in Bernstein’s Candide, Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, Bert in Mary Poppins, Donkey in Shrek the Musical, and Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast.

S Joshua is an active concert singer having performed as a soloist in a number of works including Handel’s Messiah, Bach Cantata BWV 140, Bach Cantata BWV 101, Carmina Burana,
Mozart’s Requiem, St. Matthew Passion, and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. S Joshua has performed with a number of choral ensembles including the Nashville Symphony Chorus, the Vanderbilt
Chorale, the Eastman Chorale, St. George’s Episcopal Choir in Nashville, Rochester’s Third Prebyterian Choir, the Assumption Parish Choir in Nashville, the Belle-Ile Chorus, the NJ All
State Choir, the Millville Chamber Choir and the Army Field Chorus as a guest musician. S Joshua has 10 years of experience as a section leader in various choral ensembles.

S Joshua currently teaches secondary voice at the Eastman School of Music. He also privately teaches voice, musicianship, and piano. S Joshua works with students of all ages and S Joshua Sheppard strives to cultivate a creative and cooperative space that helps students to achieve musical excellence. S Joshua aims to take a student-centric approach and is rewarded by helping students to meet their individual goals and needs.
