Katherine Eaton
Originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, Katie Eaton is pursuing a master’s degree at the Eastman School of Music. Her primary teachers include Richard Killmer, Rebecca Nagel, Mary Watt, and Amy Collins. Katie graduated with highest honors from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance.
While at South Carolina, Katie performed as principal of the UofSC Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble and performed in a wide variety of chamber groups. She also received the LeDare Robinson Undergraduate Award for Academic Excellence and was a finalist in the 2019 UofSC Concerto-Aria competition. Katie has taught with the Conagree New Horizions (SC), and Carolina Music School (SC).
Katie has performed as a regular substitute with the Aiken Symphony Orchestra and attended the National Music Festival, Domaine Forget, Kinhaven Young Artist Seminar, and the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival.
While not playing the oboe or making reeds, she enjoys running, rock climbing, and generally existing in the outdoors.
