Wendy Toh

WENDY TOH enjoys an active performance career with solo appearances in various concert halls in Europe, United States, Canada, China, and Singapore. She is a soloist with the Singapore Festive Orchestra, Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, Tanjong Katong Girls’ School String Orchestra, and The Chinese High School String Orchestra. As an active chamber musician, she performed with members of the Ying Quartet and Eastman faculty members such as Eduardo Bellotti, Bonita Boyd, and Renée Jolles, as well as Pierre Henri Xuereb of the Paris Conservatoire. She also performs actively in events such as the Rochester Music Hall of Fame, Musicale: Performance Plus Series, the Bump Universal Movement Project Concert in New York City, If Music be the food Concert Series, University of Rochester Medical Center ‘Third Thursdays- Performing Arts and Culture Series’ at Sarah Flaum Atrium, and Eastman Virtuosi Concert.

Prize winner of the Singapore National Violin Competition and first prize winner of the Duxbury Music Festival Chamber Competition, her awards include: 2016 Celentano Award for Excellence in Chamber Music, Buxton Fellowship for outstanding studies in violin, Caroline Cirotzki Barsh Scholarship for “an outstanding graduate violin major”, Hokkien Foundation: Arts and Culture Award, 2010 and the inaugural Alumni Excellence in Performing Arts Award from the Tanjong Katong Girls’ School.  

Passionate about teaching, she is excited to work with students of all ages. The achievements of her students include winning orchestra positions, music festivals, and admission to Eastman School of Music and University of Michigan. She is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate and instructor of Secondary Violin at the Eastman School of Music.
