Sarah Song

A native Houstonian, cellist Sarah Song has performed in festivals and venues across the United States and Canada, including Carnegie Hall in 2010. Song started her musical studies on piano at the age of five and cello at the age of twelve, deciding to actively pursue music after attending Madeline Island Chamber Music in 2012. She now holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and will be pursuing her Masters degree this fall at the Eastman School of Music. Her teachers include Donna Rogers, Chris French (Associate Principal of the Houston Symphony), Brandon Vamos (Pacifica String Quartet) and David Ying (Ying Quartet).  During her time in Houston, Song was active in bringing music to her community, organizing recitals in nursing homes, hospitals and churches across the Houston area. Song’s love for teaching is extremely important to her. In 2015, she became certified to teach privately in the Spring Branch Independent School District of Houston. Alongside teaching a private studio of students from ages 8 to 15, Sarah had the opportunity to mentor lower income middle school cellists in private lessons and as section mentor.  Most recently, Song performed Shostakovich Cello Sonata for the Korean National University Alumni Concert and served as one of four quartet fellows in the Madeline Island Chamber Music program where she performed Beethoven Rasumovsky String Quartet No. 2.
