Rainamei Luna

Originally from Orlando, FL, Rainamei Luna is a senior at the Eastman School of Music, majoring in General Music Education with a piano primary. Rainamei is very passionate about teaching. In the past, she has worked as a Suzuki Music Teacher, having collaborated with the executive director instructing group ensembles and individual lessons in both violin and piano to all levels of abilities. She has also worked as a Motor Disabilities Specialist at a Conductive Education Center, creating enrichment activities associated with motion and learning.

After interning for the past year, Rainamei is now proud to take over as Music Director for a local program, ROC Music Play, that focuses on family-centered music making, primarily with early childhood students and parents. Others current roles include: Vice President of Eastman’s NAfME Collegiate Chapter, Secretary-Treasurer of NAfME Collegiate/NYSSMA State Board, and Nursery Care Provider at First Presbyterian Church in Victor, NY. She also teaches private piano lessons on a weekly basis.

Additionally, Rainamei is an emerging researcher, and is currently working on an independent research study that focuses on music making with older adults. Other research projects also include: fostering students’ inner teachers, finding ways to include diversity within the state, and a recently-made blog devoted to sharing stories about music education.
