Cynsy Plant

is currently a fourth year undergraduate student at the Eastman School of Music.  She is pursuing Bachelor’s of Music degrees in Music Education and Euphonium Performance, in addition to a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Mathematics and a minor in Chinese.  She is also currently a candidate for a Performer’s Certificate and an Arts Leadership Certificate for her performance talent and academic rigor at Eastman.  Teaching music has always been very important to Cynsy.  In her home state of Illinois, she often volunteers with local junior high and high school bands, teaching both chamber music performance and marching band technique.  At Eastman, she teaches weekly euphonium lessons to two private students and has regularly volunteered with the Early Childhood Music Program, where she is now excited to take on the role of teacher.  Cynsy has performed in master classes with John Rojak, Tom Riccobono, and Toru Miura, and is involved in the Eastman jazz program and the Eastman Trombone Choir.  She studies with Mark Kellogg and has previously studied with Max Bonecutter, Mark Larson, and Phil Brown.  This summer, on a scholarship from the Taiwanese government, she is studying abroad in Taiwan in order to improve her Chinese language fluency.
