Alexandra Deitrich

Alexandra DeitrichAlexandra Deitrich is a pre-service music educator who is committed to working for the benefit of students.  She is a General Music Education Major (piano primary) at the Eastman School of Music in the class of 2020.  She currently sings in the Eastman Chorale.  In addition, Alexandra is earning a Minor in Psychology at the University of Rochester.  She is a candidate in the Arts Leadership Certificate Program at Eastman’s Institute of Music Leadership.

While pursuing her degree, Alexandra has had opportunities to develop herself as an educator with the Rochester community.  This year, she is a substitute teacher in the Early Childhood Music Program, and she regular assists in MusicTIME, Music Makers, and Clef Club classes.  Alexandra recently joined ROCmusic Collaborative as a teaching artist at the elementary general music level.  As the secretary of Eastman’s Collegiate NAfME Chapter 50, Alexandra coordinates a weekly volunteer music teaching outreach program at Hillside Children’s Center.

In the summer of 2018, interned at WXXI Public Broadcasting in the education department, developing educational programming with resources from PBS Kids.  Alexandra also has a strong interest in musical directing — she worked as a music director at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts in 2017.  Alexandra continues to music direct at the collegiate level for ROC Players student theatre and for the University of Rochester’s International Theatre Program.
