Adam Sadberry

Adam Sadberry, originally from Montgomery, Texas, began playing the flute at age eleven. He performed in his school band program all the way through graduation along with being the principal flutist and piccoloist of the Houston Youth Symphony for his last two years of high school. Thanks to the guidance of many wonderful flute teachers during those years including Jennifer Keeney, Robert Price, Sandra Benke, and Vicky Williamson, he grew vastly as a flutist and person. While in high school, they paved the way for him to become a Young Arts Winner, the silver medalist in the Houston Symphony League Concerto Competition, and a performer on National Public Radio’s popular program From the Top as a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist.

Adam is currently a senior and a candidate for the Performer’s Certificate at the Eastman School of Music. He studies flute performance with Bonita Boyd and takes piccolo lessons with Anne Harrow. At Eastman, he frequently performs with Eastman’s premiere ensembles, including the Philharmonia, the Wind Ensemble, and the Opera Orchestra. This includes a special concert where Adam was selected to perform with the Philharmonia at the Lincoln Center with Renée Fleming as soloist. He has given multiple
recitals at Eastman as well, including a solo recital in Kilbourn Hall as the 2017 Links/Eastman Scholarship Recipient.

Adam has gained additional ensemble experience from summer programs including the Round Top Festival Institute and the American Wind Symphony. Through both invitation and winning competitions, Adam has soloed with the Conroe Symphony, Clear Lake Symphony, and the Cordancia Chamber Orchestra. He was named one of nine finalists in the 2017 U.S. Army Band National Collegiate Solo Competition out of about one hundred applicants. He was also recently named a New World Symphony finalist and was placed on their substitute list.

Along with performing, Adam is sought-after as a speaker and teacher. He has spoken/performed at multiple events for the University of Rochester including the inaugural Board of Trustees Recital in 2016 and university events in both Philadelphia and Cleveland. As for teaching, he has been on faculty at the Baylor Flute Seminar and the Southeast Asia Music Festival in the Philippines.

He is extremely excited to join the Eastman Community Music School as an intern.
