Majoring and Minoring in Music
This year, the Eastman Community Music School and the Eastman School of Music are presenting a series of FREE workshops for high school students interested in majoring or minoring in music during college.
Sophomores and juniors, and their parents, are invited to come and learn the ins and outs of applying to music school and planning for a career in music from Eastman’s professional Admissions, Career Advising, and Financial Aid staff.
All three workshops are scheduled for Sundays from 11 am – 12:30 pm in the Karen Rettner Community Music Center at 10 Gibbs St.
Workshop dates and topics will include:
October 27, 2019; Careers & Programs in Music – Find out what you can do with a degree in music, what types of music schools and programs you can apply to, and what the difference is between majoring and minoring in music.
January 12, 2019; Applying and Auditioning – Learn what music schools look for in an application, how your academic work will factor in to your application process and studies, and how best to prepare for an audition.
February 2, 2019; Financial Aid & Scholarships – Financial aid at music schools can be a bit different from other programs, but Eastman’s experts will be happy to help answer all of your questions from the FAFSA to the differences between need and merit-based aid.
