Eastman@Washington Square

The Eastman@Washington Square concert series is starting up again on Thursday, March 14th, with “Illustrious Music with Cello and Piano”. 

Concerts take place every Thursday, from mid-October through May at the First Universalist Church, at the corner of South Clinton and Court Streets, beginning at 12:15 p.m., and ending at 12:45. Bagged lunches are welcome during these events. We hope to see you there!

March 14 – Illustrious Music with Cello and Piano – Come and hear cellist Shade S. Zajac and pianist Doug Hanson in a recital presenting major works of Beethoven, for cello and piano, and Rachmaninoff, for solo piano.

March 21 – Piano Music by Women Composers I – Join us as the studio of Professor Tony Caramia explores solo and duet compositions for piano by women composers, from 1845 to 2018.

March 28 – Piano Music by Women Composers II – A second installment of fabulous pianists from the studio of Professor Tony Caramia.

April 4 – Soulful Strings from Europe – Violinist Mikhail Kopelman, cellist Steven Doane, and pianist Anna Gourfinkel join in performing music of Smetana and Kodály.

April 11 – Hope-Jones Organ Showcase – Rejoice with the sound of the First Universalist Church’s organ as organist David Peckham showcases this important and beautiful instrument.

April 18 – Mbira dzeMugomo Guru – This world music ensemble will share music Shona spiritual tradition from Zimbabwe to entertain and delight Washington Square listeners!

April 25 – Trésors Français – Cellist Noémie Raymond-Friset and pianist Peter Klimo will share treasures of the French cello repertoire crowned by Poulenc’s Sonata for Cello and Piano.

May 2 – Fantasies for Piano Duet – Don’t miss hearing piano Fantasies by Schubert and Glinka performed by pianists Michelle Steffers and Belinda Chang.

May 9 – Trio “Slavia” – Join us for music of Beethoven performed by violinist Oleg Lupines, cellist
Svetlana Garitselov, and pianist Irina Lupines.

May 16 – Honors Finale – Come hear terrific seniors from the Eastman Community Music School’s High School Honors Diploma program.

May 23 – Eastman Community Chamber SingersMembers of the Eastman Community Chamber Singers will sing us in to summertime with beautiful choral music.

 

Please note that if Rochester City Schools are closed due to inclement weather, the church building will also be closed and the concert will be canceled.
