The Eastman Community Music School is proud to present free weekly concerts featuring artists from the Eastman School of Music and ECMS. Faculty and Student Performances from both schools offer an excellent opportunity to hear some of the best musicians that Rochester has to offer and all performances are absolutely free!

Concerts take place every Thursday from late October through May at 12:15pm. This fall they will be streamed LIVE from the Eastman Campus in Sproull Atrium from October – November and in the Karen Rettner Community Music Center of Messinger Hall in December.

January 28 – Eastman Faculty Performance: Mark Kellogg, trombone and Priscilla Yuen, piano – Professors Kellogg and Yuen will be performing works my American modernist composers Halsey Stevens and Charles Ives, and a work by Ethan Cypress, and Eastman School of Music DMA student in Jazz Trombone. 

February 4 – Anthony LaLena, classical guitar – Anthony LaLena is a guitar teacher at the Eastman Community Music School and a graduate student in guitar performance and musicology at Eastman. His program will feature 20th century works for the guitar by Spanish and French composers.

February 11 – Eastman student Robert Sanders Performs Works for Solo Violin

February 18 – Joella Becker, cello and Kelly Soderahl McNeilly, piano This Eastman student duo is performing Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonata for Cello and Piano Op. 119, a modern masterpiece originally composed for the great Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. 

February 25 –Romantic Master: Music of Robert Schumann –  featuring Chihiro Kakishima, violin; James Marshallviola; Jennifer Carpenter, cello; and I-Hsiang Chao, piano

March 4 – Chihiro Kakishima, violin and Jenny Kirby, piano

March 11 –  Nate Malkow, baritone and Jenny Kirby, piano – this program will feature Robert Schumann’s Romantic song cycle Dichterliebe or “A Poet’s Love.” 

March 18 – The JapKam Duo – featuring violinist Letitia Jap and guitarist Kenneth Kam

March 25 – Juli Elliot, soprano and Christopher Petit, piano – music of Florence Price

April 1 – Ela Kodžas, violin and William Shi, piano

April 8 – Rosa Boemia: Brazilian Choro

April 15 – Voices of the Winds – colorful wind quintet music to welcome spring!

April 22 – Claire An, violin and Irina Lupines, piano

April 29 – Early Music for Voice and Lute

May 6 – Kasumi Leonard, flute and Chiao-Wen Cheng, piano
