This is a yearlong course divided into two semesters.

Applied Keyboard Harmony is a hands-on course that begins with an overview of diatonic and chromatic harmony voiced at the piano and moves through score reading, continuo playing, jazz and popular harmony, and variation techniques for composition and improvisation. Exercises include continuo realization, minuet and figuration prelude composition and improvisation, jazz lead sheet voicing, and re-harmonization in various styles. Students will spend equal amounts of time behind the piano and writing exercises. 

Prerequisite: Theory 2 or approval from course instructor
