Also open to any other interested students who have completed PCL 104 or equivalent.<\/p>\n<p>OBJECTIVES: to provide a more advanced level of keyboard instruction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Technique: <\/strong><em>to be done in lab<\/em>: <strong>up to 3#&#8217;s, 3b&#8217;s in 105, all keys in 106 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>major scales; minor scales (harmonic form), hands together, 4 octaves in 16th notes<\/li>\n<li>major and minor triad arpeggios, hands together, 4 octaves in 16th notes<\/li>\n<li>dom and dim 7th chord arpeggios, hands together, 2 octaves in 16th notes<\/li>\n<li>other technical exercises as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2) Keyboard Skills<\/strong>: <em>to be done in lab <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced Harmonization: see MUE related choral accompaniments; Sight Reading<\/li>\n<li>Accompaniments: Students are encouraged bring piano accompaniments from their major instruments to study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3) Repertoire: <\/strong><em>to be covered in private lessons<\/em>: a minimum of three (3) pieces per semester<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>PCL 105<\/strong>:\u00a0 Baroque-Classic-Romantic<\/li>\n<li><strong>PCL 106:\u00a0 <\/strong>Impressionistic-Contemporary<\/li>\n<li><strong>PCL 105\/106:\u00a0 <\/strong>Etudes, such as Bertini (Op.100); Burgmuller (Op.100); Czerny; Heller (Opp.45, 47, 125); Waxman\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>GRADING<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>a required performance of repertoire at the end of the semester for both 105 and 106; each student&#8217;s TA is responsible for contacting another TA to attend the performance.<\/li>\n<li>4 tests (scheduled throughout the semester), 3 on scales and the fourth on an etude<\/li>\n<li>attendance:\u00a0 one un-excused absence allowed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esm.rochester.edu\/classpiano\/pcl105106.php#top\">[back to top]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PLEASE NOTE:\u00a0 This class is for Eastman students only.
