This rigorous two week program provides an intensive, performance based experience for highly motivated students currently in grades 9–12 and is ideally suited for those considering jazz studies at the collegiate level. Students work directly with the renowned Eastman School of Music jazz faculty during the two-week session in a rigorous program designed to enhance improvisational and ensemble skills. Final large and small ensemble performances are held in acoustically magnificent Kilbourn Hall. Performances will be recorded, and each student will receive a CD set of the performances.

Application checklist:
- An audition tape or CD (5–7 minutes maximum) should include:
- Three contrasting pieces, i.e. bebop tune, standard, ballad
- Improvised solos
- Accompanying skills: walking bass, comping, etc.
- Drums: Five examples including: medium tempo swing; trading fours; ballad with brushes; uptempo swing; Latin
- A fully completed Application Form (See How to Apply at left)
- A fully completed Medical Form
- A recommendation from current ensemble or private teacher
- A musical résumé that includes recent solo and ensemble music, honors, awards
- Application fee: $25
