New Students Admitted to the Arts Leadership Program
Twelve Eastman students were recently admitted to the ALP certificate program.  Congratulations!!  You can read about them here:  http://www.esm.rochester.edu/iml/alp/

Zipcar at Eastman
Transportation Services has notified ESM that our new Eastman Zipcar has arrived and is located in the East End Garage on the Ground Level.  Find out more about Zipcar

Eastman Family Weekend Welcome Reception Registration
All students are welcome to attend the Eastman Family Weekend Welcome Reception on Friday, October 9 from 3:30pm to 5pm on Cominsky Promenade.  If your family has not already registered you, please register online by October 6 at the Family Weekend website.

Rochester Independent Music Festival

RochesterÕs South Wedge Neighborhood

Rochester Independent Music Festival will take place on October 1, 2, and 3 in RochesterÕs South Wedge neighborhood.  Visit http://rochesterindiefest.com/ for more information on tickets, venues, and performances.

First Friday
Friday, October 2; 6pm to 9pm
First Friday is a monthly citywide gallery night that encourages collaboration between non-profit, university, and commercial art venues in Rochester, NY. This initiative showcases area artists and arts institutions by promoting the First Friday evening of each month from 6-9pm as a community night for experiencing art. First Friday ensures a healthy art scene and a healthy city through regular exchange and discussion between venues, artists and patrons. First Friday Rochester was initiated, and is administered by Rochester Contemporary Art Center. For more information visit http://www.firstfridayrochester.org/.

Apple Picking
Saturday, October 3; 1pm to 4pm
Off-Campus at Whittier Fruit Farm; Free transportation
Sign-up at the Eastman Commons Front Desk.  Bus leaves Eastman Commons at 1pm and returns by 4pm.  Open to all Eastman students.  Sponsored by Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.

Harmonic Brass
Saturday, October 3; 7:30pm
Asbury First United Methodist Church, 1050 East Avenue
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students.  Purchase with cash or check at the door, which opens at 6:30pm.  Website

Mid-Autumn Festival
Saturday, October 3; 7:30pm to 9:30pm
River Campus, Strong Auditorium; $5
Come and join us as we share the origin of this Festival, showcase dances inspired by the mutual influence of the western and eastern culture, present special program dedicated to thank the great Rochester community, and highlight the sparkling beauty and enormous diversity of the Chinese Culture!  This event is open to the public. Price: $10 Adult, $5 Student/Children. Tickets may be purchased at the door at date of the event.  Sponsored by Chinese StudentsÕ Association.

Hispanic/Latino Heritage Family Day
Sunday, October 4; Noon to 5pm
Memorial Art Gallery
Get there free on the RED bus line.  Admission is free and will include hands-on art activities for children, dance performances by Arco Iris Mexicano and Movida Dance Company, Afro-Cuban drumming by Cha-Cha Rumba, traditional Chilean songs by Mario Alejandro, performance by Latin Vibes, international cultural displays from 22 countries and much more!  Visit the MAGÕs website for a complete schedule.
