Provenance: The scrapbook was received as a gift from the Memorial Art Gallery but could not have been compiled there, owing to the date of the materials, ranging from 1904-1912. The nature of the materials included indicates a Rochester origin.

Scope and Content: The scrapbook includes programs and clippings from newspapers and magazines. The programs are predominantly of concerts and recitals given in Rochester, whereas the clippings are from local and other newspapers and magazines. The materials range in date from 1904 to 1912. Several of the items are of concerts by the local Tuesday Musicale and may indicate that the original compiler had some connection with that influential local society.

Associations: Watanabe Special Collections holds several other scrapbooks relating to local music history. Most relevant to the present one is perhaps the scrapbooks of the Tuesday Musicale. The department also maintains a file of ephemera relating to local music history.
