Biography: John C. Rodenbeck (1867?-1954) was a bank officer and amateur musician and composer in Rochester. He began as errand boy for the local Merchants Bank and eventually rose to the office of vice president. At the same time he was active as a violinist and pianist, while composing songs and other music.
Provenance: The collection was presumably donated to Sibley Library after Rodenbeck's death.
Scope and Content: The collection contains a small number of musical compostions and items of ephemera.
Associations: Watanabe Special Collections holds several local history scrapbooks and collections from the same period. It also maintains a Rochester Association Sheet Music Collection, which contains no works by Rodenbeck.
