Biography: No biographical information on Edith May Parks is extant. Parks may have been a student of the locally prominent teacher, Mrs. C.S.P. Cary, judging from the amount of material in the scrapbook relating to the latter. A program from July 21, 1899 lists Parks as pianist.
Provenance: Provenance unknown.
Scope and Content: The scrapbook presents an excellent overview of musical life during the decades surrounding the turn of the century. It includes mainly musical, but also some theatrical events. The contents give evidence of the many first rank concert artists who performed in Rochester. It equally includes local and amateur performances. The compiler has often brought together programs, newspaper clippings, and biographical information about a particular artist. There is a significant amount of material on the locally important music teacher, Mrs. C.S.P. Cary, including her obituary.
