Tim Pyper started his musical career as a treble chorister at St. James' Cathedral, Toronto. He began organ study with Giles Bryant and later continued with John Tuttle. From 1994 until 1998, Tim was Organ Scholar of Royal St. George's College, Toronto, with whom he toured France and Belgium. In 2002 he performed at the American Guild of Organists National Convention in Philadelphia as part of the "Rising Stars" recital series. Later the same year, he gave solo recitals at the Royal Canadian College of Organists National Convention in Charlottetown, PEI. His concert at the 2002 Guelph Spring Festival was aired nationally on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Tim's recent honors include First Prize in the John R. Rodland Memorial Scholarship (2002), First Prize in the RCCO's National Competition in Organ Playing (2001), and First Prize in the AGO's Region II RCYO competition (2001). Tim received his Bachelors degree in 2003 from the Eastman School of Music as a student of David Higgs. While at Eastman, he served as Organist and Choir Director at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Rochester. |
