18th c. ship Göthenberg

This ship is being built in a large wharehouse in the dock district. Old techniques and materials are used throughout the hull and rigging but the ship will be fitted with modern electronics and an engine to conform with international laws.

The Gothenborg surrounded by scaffolding.

The (decidedly non-18th century) brass propellors, one of the concessions to modernism to make the Gothenborg a working ship in the 21st century.

One of the carvings destined for the ship.

The scale model of the ship and rigging used, then and now, as a reference for construction of the full size ship.
