Lunch concert at Vasa

The organ of the Vasa church, a Swedish romantic instrument, was the site of our second lunch recital. Four Eastman students, Andrew Hackett, Rico Contenti, Chris Lane and Chris Petit presented works by Max Reger, Calvin Hampton, William Bolcom and Franz Liszt.

The organ has been recently restored. It has two free reed stops, a type of reed that is rarely found in organs today. Many historic German romantic instruments included such stops making this instrument particularly well suited to the interpretation of music from that period.
