Lunch recital at Vasakyrka

For our lunch recital on Thursday, we were treated to our third and final concert at Vasa church. Yeon Hee Sim and William Wisnom treated us to music of Reger (Introduktion and Passacaglia in F-minor) and Julius Reubke (Sonata on the 94th Psalm). Both pieces received excellent perfomances on the Vasa church organ, an instrument so well suited to this repertoire.

Peter Geise, an Eastman graduate now studying organ building and performance in Sweden, working on a malfunctioning pedal note just minutes before the concert. He successfully repaired the problem and the concert began, just 5 minutes behind schedule.

The newly restored organ in the Vasakyrka includes a unique memory system controlled by a computer housed inside the organ case. This system allows for a potentially infinte number of memory combinations, though there was a bit of a learning curve for all our performers.
