ESM Faculty & Staff Handbook 2009-2010
TEXTBOOK ORDERS
Class Book Orders
Book orders for the fall semester should be submitted to Tammy Spence at the Eastman Bookstore no later than April 15 of the preceding spring. For the spring semester, book orders should be placed by October 15. Summer session book orders should, also, be submitted by
April 15.
Desk Copies
The bookstore can supply you with publisher’s addresses and telephone numbers for ordering desk copies. The most efficient ways to request a desk copy are e-mail, fax, or the publisher’s toll-free number or Web site. However, some do require that the request be submitted in writing, on letterhead. The bookstore has been very accommodating about lending faculty a copy of their texts if desk copies have not yet arrived (assuming that you keep the borrowed copy in new, saleable condition).
Other Bookstores
In addition to having the School bookstore across the street, Eastman is a three-minute walk from The Scholar’s Choice, located on the 12th floor of the Sibley Tower Building (262-2048). They host book exhibits at a multitude of conferences in the humanities; their sister store, The Compleat Scholar, is open for browsing by special appointment (262-6009). They have far more university press books than either Borders or the Barnes & Noble superstore. Eastman is also fortunate to be located less than a block away from Greenwood Books (123 East Avenue, 325-5020), an excellent small store that sells both new and used books. Its owner is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating, and the store is a welcome alternative to the superstores.
