This office provides orchestral instruments for students to borrow. The maximum loan period is for one semester. Loans may be renewed depending upon current instrument needs.
Instrument loan priorities are as follows:
1) Ensemble performances
2) Ensemble rehearsals
3) Methods courses
4) Instrument majors
5) Other Eastman uses
6) River Campus Music Programs
The Instrument Office reserves the right to recall any instrument at any time for reassignment to a higher priority.
Fees
Methods courses require no fee. Loans for personal use (e.g., gigs, auditions, summer rental, secondary use, or a loaner instrument when an instrument is being repaired) will require a letter from a faculty member and will be subject to a fee.
Use of certain instruments in the School’s ensembles (as specifically prescribed by the directors of those ensembles), or in the student’s private lesson program (as specifically prescribed by his/her teacher) will be without charge.
Liability
The Eastman School of Music requires a signed loan contract for all instrument loans. The School will hold the borrower and co-borrower of any instruments and equipment fully liable for loss or damage of such property.
