Do I get credit for taking this course?
Designed to be a refresher course, this is a non-credit self-assessment tool.The goal is to build up your theory chops to better prepare you for higher education music theory.
Year-round! Though the course is designed to take approximately 4-6 weeks to complete, we give you six months of unlimited access beginning as soon as you register so you can work at your own pace. I'm ready to get started.
How long will I have to complete the course?
Once registered, you have six months of free access, allowing you the ability to set your own pace and work through the course at your leisure. You decide when to register!
Are there written assignments or tests?
There are no written assignments to turn in or tests to take. Each module contains self-assessments which will let you know how you're doing.

I am a transfer student with theory credits from my previous school. Should I take eTheory?
If you're comfortable with the theory you learned in your classes, then you're probably fine to continue to the next course at your new school. If you would like a refresher course prior to continuing, then eTheory is for you! Click here to register.
Register with our institutional discount! Just contact your school administrator for the discount code and follow the directions under I'm ready to register. If you're an Eastman School of Music student, please email us for a registration code.

Can my school pay for students to take the eTheory course?
Yes! Please email us. Schools may also choose to have students register and pay individually through our website.
Yes! We offer an institutional discount price of $67 per registration. Please email us for a personalized discount code for your school.
Is the eTheory course for graduate students, too?
At this time, the course is designed specifically for undergraduate students. However, we hope to develop a graduate-level review course in the near future.
Can you provide us with a list of students that register from our school?
Yes! Once students are registered, we can provide a list for your records.

If you copied and pasted from the email we sent, make sure there are no spaces in your username and password.

Does my piano keyboard need to be hooked up to my computer?
No! A separate keyboard is fine for the purposes of this course.
