Happy Holidays from the Arts Leadership Program – December 2008
Ho Ho Ho! Lots going on in ALP and elsewhere, and just wanted to let you know about a couple of recent awards and some intern and fellowship opportunities.
Special Opportunity Grants
Congratulations to Maria Kanakis and Liu Liu for recently receiving ALP Special Opportunity Grants! Maria will be attending the League of American Orchestras' Orchestra Leadership Academy seminar, Essentials of Orchestra Management, in New York in January 2009. Her grant is covering expenses associated with her tuition and travel while in NYC. Liu Liu will be attending the 2009 Association of Performing Arts Presenters Conference in New York in January 2009. Her grant is covering expenses associated with her travel and hotel. Current students are eligible to apply for Special Opportunity grants at any time.
Fellowships
Application deadline for the League of American Orchestras 2009-2010 Orchestra Management Fellowship is February 2, 2009. Annual stipend of $32,500 with additional funds to cover travel and health benefits. More information

Summer Internships
Students or alumni who are considering summer internships should already be researching potential opportunities. Check out the ALP facebook group postings and wall for recent opportunities at the National Gallery of Arts (Music Department Concert Management), Boosey & Hawkes Publishing (Promotion/Publicity contemporary classical music) and Alfred Publishing (Business Affairs and Royalties). More ideas for summer internships are always available on the ALP website. Applications will be due April 17, 2009.
