an update with a LOT of information about our alumni. And if you’re
not part of the ALP facebook group and would like to be, let me know—it is

Jobs, degrees and some back to

Chris
Van Hof (MM ’08) leaves his ALP-fueled job as
afternoon host at WXXI Rochester to begin his doctorate at the University
of Wisconsin – Madison in trombone performance. He was given a
University Fellowship, which funded him in full. The fellowship is an
academics-oriented, university-wide award that was based on his
professional and academic success which the last 3 years he could not have
accomplished without ALP.
Ryan Gardner
(BM ’03) was recently appointed Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Oklahoma
State University. After Eastman, he received a Master’s degree from
Rice, and then a doctorate from Manhattan School of Music. He worked
as Assistant Professor of High Brass at the University of Arkansas – Fort
Smith from 2008 until this recent appointment. He says ALP certainly
prepared him for his career as a college professor and free-lance
musician. Knowing the business end of the music field including how
to market himself, write grants, etc. really paid off. See more about
Ryan here.
Dylan
Smith (BM ’10) leaves his job (also fueled
by an ALP internship) as Artistic Coordinator of the Rochester Philharmonic
Orchestra to return to school for a master’s in trumpet performance at
Southern Methodist University. This past summer Dylan was also
awarded a fellowship position with the National Orchestral Institute.
See more about Dylan here.
Catie
Hickey (BM ’07) is on the move again, this
time to take a position as the trombone professor at Southern Illinois
University in Carbondale, IL. She also continues to perform as a member
of The
Foothills Brass Quintet
based in Calgary. Watch the ALP facebook page soon for Catie’s
feature as next month’s IML
Spotlight.
Ben

his DMA in piano performance at Boston University. He is currently
teaching in the Atlanta area as an adjunct at Georgia Perimeter College and
the Georgia Academy of Music at Westminster, along with his private
studio. Read more about Ben here.
Anna
Reguero (BM/BA ’05) leaves her job as one of
the principal arts reporters/critics for the Democrat and Chronicle to
return to school for a MA/PhD in Music History and Theory at SUNY
Stonybrook, where she is also a teaching assistant. Rochester will
certainly miss her!

part time Parts Manager at Conn-Selmer to complete his
doctorate in tuba performance at the University of North Carolina -
Greensboro.
Nicole

serve as musician director for the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra Board of
Directors. Read Tenly’s blog and learn more about her here.
Doug O’Connor
(MM ’08, DMA in process) and Sean Connors (in pic) (BM ’04, DMA in
process) were recently appointed to teaching positions at the University of
Wisconsin. Doug is Associate Lecturer of saxophone at the Eau Claire
campus. Sean is professor of percussion at the Stevens Point
campus. The two are collaborating on an October 23rd concert
featuring pieces for saxophone and marimba. I think it was a good
thing to have the word “Connor” in your name in Wisconsin. Read more
about Sean and Doug.
Eric
Goldman (BM ’02) is now Senior Consultant at
Graham Pelton Consulting in Washington DC, a leading fundraising consulting
firm helping nonprofit organizations carry out their visions and exceed
their expectations.
Jason
Price (MM ’04, DMA ‘05) was recently
appointed Assistant Professor of Sound Design in the Department of Theatre
at Michigan State University. (I’m a “Go Blue” fan all the way, but I
won’t hold it against him.) Jason also performs with Alarm Will
Sound. Read more about Jason here and here.
Lauren Woodward (BM
’07) was recently appointed Artistic Program Coordinator at Music Academy
of the West in Santa Barbara, CA. Previous positions included
Assistant Artistic Administrator at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and
Operations and Community Engagement intern at the Memphis Symphony
Orchestra. Her position in Memphis was a year-long position funded as
an ALP post graduate intern.
Casey
Molino Dunn (MM ‘08) was recently appointed to a
new position as Deputy Director of the Manhattan
School of Music’s Center for Music Entrepreneurship. His responsibilities
will include some teaching and will call upon his arts
administration/publicity, career services and musical backgrounds,
including experience gained through positions at the Juilliard School of
Music and Eastman’s Office of Careers and Professional Development.
He continues to maintain an active performance and music ministry career in
the NYC/NJ area. Read more about Casey here.
Congratulations
to Rachael Young (BM ’06) on winning the position of 2nd
Bassoonist with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra.
Eryn
Bauer (BM ’10) is excited to announce that
she will be starting a full time position as Operations Manager with Ars Lyrica Houston in January
2012. She’s been working as Development Coordinator for Young
Audiences of Houston (YAH) in addition to teaching and performing in the
Houston area. Eryn turned an ALP internship held in the summer of
2010 with YAH into a part time position with them, with many thanks to
Eastman alum Todd Frazier (BM ’92) who was most interested in Eryn’s
experience and capabilities. Eryn said the interviewing process for
internships for her ALP certificate definitely helped with the whole process.
Eryn also continues to perform with the award winning Arabesque Winds.
Rebecca
Weissman (MA ’06) is now Manager of Artist
Relations at Verne Q. Powell Flutes.
Yorgos
Kouritas (DMA in progress) is now Music

Augusta Arts Council Arts Professional award for 2011. Shizuo is
currently the Music Director of the Symphony Orchestra Augusta. Read

academic year in Mexico City with his wife, Mary-Elizabeth. She is on

of the Vertex Saxophone Quartet, founded in 2010 and consisting of all
